Update: The LA Times might have gotten our hopes up for nothing…
Brace yourself Coachella fans! It looks like you have gotten your wish after all…
Prince will be added to the lineup for the Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival, which runs April 25-27 at the Empire Polo Field in Indio, sources tell me. No confirmation from the artist’s websites, which seem to be down (or under construction) at the moment. But this certainly adds some meat to the the festival’s slightly protein-starved roster.

No word on what day he’ll be playing (headlining?) or when an official confirmation will come from Goldenvoice. Prince had been rumored as a possible headliner before the lineup was initially announced.
As everyone knows, this multi-instrumentalist is a big name that fans have been wanting to see at Indio’s festival for some time to come. I’d say it’s a surprise addition, but this is the same festival that added Madonna late in the game.
This should really spice up what many are considering a lackluster line up this year. If his jaw dropping performance at the 2007 Super Bowl (good luck finding a video on the web) is any consideration, then ticket holders for Coachella just got a little more lucky.
Anyone else love that Batman soundtrack from 1989?
