What’s one to do when cooped up inside as the “impending ice age” freezes everything in site? Well, for the Foals, how does working on a new album sound?

After taking the world by storm in 2008 thanks to their insanely solid debut album, Antitodes, and a slew of tour dates that took them about everywhere, the English rockers currently find themselves at work on a brand new studio album, as Yannis Philippakis recently revealed via the band’s MySpace: “Work is continuing on writing the next record. Which is sounding less and less surf the colder it gets.”

While little in the way of details were shared in regards to the currently untitled effort, Philippakis did offer a few early tastes of what one may expect. Albeit rough mixes, the Foals have posted three tracks on their MySpace, all of which are described as “part formless and semi-instrumental,” the result of “[Philippakis] messing round late at night lonely on a loop pedal.” Check out all three tracks below…

Of course, between the impending record and the select one-offs in the coming months, which include a stop at All Tomorrow’s Parties’ May gala, the Foals will do plenty of moving, meaning they shouldn’t have much problem staying war amidst the “impending ice age.”
