M83 does Conan O’Brien tonight, hangs with Orchestra in March

Have you been looking for something to do tonight? Well, aside from waiting for Coachella to drop. No worries, M83’s got you covered with their first televised event ever tonight, January 27th, on NBC’s Late Night with Conan O’ Brien. And what’s even better is the stellar electronic/shoegaze duo will be performing their fabulous new single “Kim and Jesse”! Coming from 2008’s hit record, Saturdays = Youth, the track is an 80’s sounding joy ride that’s already got its own totally rad roller skating music video.

Recently, the boys of M83 have been tour junkies, using the latter part of 2008 to split their time between a stint in support of Kings of Leon in the U.K. and their own sold-out North American tour. After a short holiday pause, the band is currently hitting the wagon once more, currently opening for The Killers on the first leg of their 2009 tour. But what’s the most exciting part of their upcoming itinerary? M83’s most recently added show of course!

What we didn’t expect was to hear that Anthony Gonzalez and Morgan Kibby would be performing alongside the Los Angeles Philharmonic! That’s right folks, M83 will be co-headlining a show with the acclaimed orchestra, at the Walt Disney Concert hall on Saturday March 7th, 2009. Under the direction of Julian Kuerti, Assistant Conductor of the Boston Symphony Orchestra, the concert will include three sets, as not only both groups will perform their own set, but the Philharmonic will join M83 for a number of full orchestral arrangements to close the evening. Tickets go on sale this Friday, January 30th so hurry up and grab some while they last!
