With the hipster love song “Young Folks” permeating the radio waves every other day, it’s hard to believe that it’s already been over two years since Peter Bjorn and John released Writer’s Block. Now, after one too many side projects and a couple of other distractions, these Swedes are finally back in action and hitting the studio hard. That’s right folks, the band’s fifth full-length album Living Thing is on its way!

The 12-track effort is officially set for release on March 30 in the UK and one day later in the U.S. Described by Rolling Stone as “PB&J’s most experimental work today”, the album reportedly features the band’s trademark folk pop mixed with the sounds of electro-pop, hip-hop and Afro-pop; a characteristic that is certainly evident in Living Thing’s latest preview. And as an early taste, the group is currently offering up a new track, entitled “Lay It Down”, for the unbeatable fee of free, or whatever you value your email address, over at Universal Music.

Of course, if you’re an aficionado of the group or just a casual reader of CoS, you’ll know that this is the second offering in as many weeks; you can also snag a listen of the album’s first single “Nothing To Worry About”, courtesy of Mr. Music himself, Kanye West. The hip-hipper, who is no stranger to the trio, debuted the track via his blog earlier this week. Oh, and if you were wondering why “Lay It Down” sounded so familiar, you’ll notice that you’ve already heard it once before in the “untitled video” they put out last month.
