Watch: Franz Ferdinand’s night with “Ulysses”

For months now, Franz Ferdinand has been teasing us with their extremely delayed third studio effort, Tonight: Franz Ferdinand. Between the album cover, track names, video game contributions, and even a video of the four-piece outfit dishing the goods on its long-awaited followup to 2005’s You Could Have It So Much Better, these Scots have done a pretty good job of playing with our hearts.

With the release of Tonight now less than two weeks away, Franz Ferdinand decided to reveal some more goodies for us to devour. First and foremost, the band is offering “No You Girls Never Know”, the album’s apparent next single, as a free download via the band’s MySpace . The track will be available between now until the day the album is released on January 26th.

But if you thought that was exciting, just wait until you watch their new video for the album’s first previously released single, “Ulysses”. As you’ll see below, the video plays out like a lucid dream, presumably about living life on the edge. Stylized in a manner similar to the classic druggie film Trainspotting, “Ulysses” shows the band on an all night search for the ultimate “high” in nicely fitted suits and snazzy shoes. However, if you can manage to ignore their nice attire you’ll see that the members actually do look the part of late night druggies as they find themselves deprived of sleep and staring off aimlessly with bloodshot eyes or laying about in laundry machines. Overall, “Ulysses” is extremely trippy and rather horrifying (as you’ll soon find out), but it’s set to such a fun and catchy tune that you’ll find it hard to dislike!

Right now the band’s got a hefty list of upcoming tour dates, though as of now, that goes mostly for our European friends. U.S. tour dates are still forthcoming, however, we can confirm the band will be appearing at Coachella in April.
