Watch: Lily Allen’s NYE performance

We may still be a couple months away from the release of Lily Allen‘s much-awaited sophomore studio album, It’s Not Me, It’s You (February 10th), but that hasn’t stopped the British pop star from getting an early start on the promotional fun. Hot off the release of a Escape The Fear – you know, that video game we mentioned a few weeks back where you must help Lily escape by collecting letters and which takes all about five minutes to beat? – Ms. Allen stopped by Later with Jools Holland for a special New Years Eve performance of “The Lady is a Tramp”.

Of course, said song doesn’t come from the forthcoming album, but is in fact a cover of a show tune from the 1937 musical, Babes In Arms. Allen is just the latest in a long line of high-profile female musicians who have covered the song, but between the accompanying orchestra, cocktail dress, and the awkward swaying motions made by more than one of the performers, I think it’s safe to say this particular performance definitely set itself apart from the rest.

Check it out below. Now if we could only find out the identity of Lily’s mystery man
