It’s Blitz!, the forthcoming LP from the NYC garage pop collective known as the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, is coming soon, and what better way to up the anticipation than with a single!? When Karen O and Co. announced that a new album was in the works back in November, they promised a stylistic change in sound. If “Zero” is any indication of It’s Blitz!‘s overall aesthetic, then Nick Zinner has indeed brought forth the vintage synth for the troupe’s latest effort. As Karen O croons atop a thumpin’ bass drum, the synth slowly builds, alongside dance worthy hallway drums. Soon enough the song comes together as a nice exercise in semi-nostalgic synth-pop.
But don’t take our word for it. Check it out yourself below…
Pretty good stuff. This is shaping up to be one hell of a release, perhaps a contender for best album of 2009, but really I think we all know who’s going to take the cake in that department. It’s Blitz! is out April 14th via Interscope.
