As we first mentioned in December, rockin’ Tomorrow Never Knows hasn’t been the only thing on Cursive‘s agenda in recent months, and come March 10th, the world will finally get a taste of what Tim Kasher and co have been cooking up for the followup to 2006’s Happy Hollow.
Entitled Mama, I’m Swollen, the 10-track effort looks to be the next chapter in Cursive’s ever evolving style. As our Michael Roffman noted in his review of the band’s performance at TNK last month, of the new material offered, “the sound has really found a new bottom to work from, and whats surprising is how cohesive and attentive the set managed to be in light of that.” Lyrically, Mama appears similarly in depth, described as “brimming with the universal, questioning the human condition, social morality, and the ‘Peter Pan Syndrome’ of grown men.” From the sounds of it, this record might be touching on a new era for the band.
For those looking to get an early jump on the game, check out a video of one new song, “What Have I Done?”, and head over to Saddle Creek Records to pre-order the album.
