Perhaps it only irony that just days after rumors surfaced that The Roots had been tapped to serve as Jimmy Fallon’s house band and consequently, would take a break from touring, the Philadelphia outfit was involved in a bus crash as they traveled to one of few remaining scheduled dates. But the whole ordeal sure makes for a good explanation as why the band won’t be getting back on the bus anytime soon, even during night’s off from late night.
Ok, so their house band obligations are probably the more likely explanation, but whatever the case may be, The Roots will be sticking close by in the coming months, as evident by their recently announced 14-date residency at New York’s Highline Ballroom. The Highline residency, known as “The Jam” and produced by Jill Newman Productions, will run from early March to late June. The shows are all weekday late-night shows, beginning at 11:30 PM – leaving you and the band. plenty of time to get from Rockefeller Center over to W. 16th St. Tickets are $10 in advance, $12 at the door.
