For an electro heads, the week that is March 24-28, 2009 is probably the closest thing to a non-drug-inducing ecstasy. After all, over the course of those five days, some 2,000+ DJs will descend on Miami, Florida for the 24th annual Winter Music Conference.

As we know by now, the event will be highlighted by the uber excellent Ultra Music Festival, which will cap off the week with two nights of electro madness at Bicentennial Park. But as a quick look at the lineup poster and some elementary school counting will tell you, not everyone of the aforementioned 2,000+ DJs will be participating at Ultra. Instead many will be hitting up South Beach’s various music venues for some South by Southwest style-showcases and parties.

In anticipation of the week, the Winter Music Conference recently unveiled its “List” for 2009. Think of it as a lineup, but the really overwhelming type that also includes countless panels, seminars, and spin-offs, or everything that DJs of all sizes and backgrounds could only dream of. We’ll let you sort it out yourself, but as you’ll quickly find out, the performances component of the “List” is easily the biggest draw. Among acts scheduled to perform throughout the week include Paul Oakenfold, Infected Mushroom, Eric Prydz, Felix Da Housecat, Paul van Dyk, DJ A-Trak, The Whip, M.A.N.D.Y., and Junior Sanchez.

Much like SXSW, badges are required for many of the “official” events. Currently, registration will run you $375, but come February 11th, that price will jump $50. Needless to say, the time to buy is now.

Of course, check out our official WMC Outlook page for all the necessary info, including a list of the confirmed artists of note, important links, and ticket information.
