Dinosaur Jr. The name alone is synonymous with America, lo-fi indie rock and melodic guitar solos. For the recently reunited original lineup of the Amherst, Massachusetts trio, Dinosaur Jr. is working on its follow up to their critically acclaimed 2007 release Beyond. With Lou Barlow back on bass to complete J Mascis’ howling vocals and incredible guitar as well as ever dependable drummer Murph, the band looks to the future.

The group’s ninth studio album entitled Farm, will see a June 23rd release on their new label Jagjaguwar. According to Pitchfork Media:

It will feature long songs, big guitar, and a few quiet moments, according to the press release. It’s another Dinosaur Jr. record. But since nobody else can do what they do, there’s nothing wrong with “another Dinosaur Jr. record.”

For those itchin’ to hear some new work ahead of time, be sure to check out the band’s appearance on Pitchfork.tv , where they debuted new track, “I Don’t Want To Go There”. It’s just one of the twelve tracks (track listing after the jump) that will see the light of day come June.

As a perennial favorite of most of the staff here at CoS, Dinosaur Jr. cannot do any wrong. From downtrodden guitar noodles to bitter songs of love and regret, it’s great to finally see the original band put their differences aside and pump out another flesh & blood record. If this summer wasn’t chock full of heart busting greatness, Dinosaur Jr,’s anticipation pushed it over the top, Sly Stallone style.
