You probably haven’t heard of them yet, but trust me, you will soon enough, in fact by the end of this article. Ladies and gentlemen, say hello to The Dead Weather, the brand new music project from none other than Jack White. Yes, the man behind The White Stripes and The Raconteurs has moved on to another creative endeavor!
While details still remain quite sketchy, according to Third Man Records, the personal imprint of Mr. White, the supergroup, which features The Kills’ Alison Mosshart on lead vocals, The Raconteurs’ Jack Lawrence on bass, Queens Of The Stone Age’s Dean Fertita on guitar and White on drums and vocals, made its debut during a recent event celebrating the opening of the record company’s new building. Sound awesome? We’re just getting started. The building, which White is said to have designed from the ground up, is also where the band recorded its debut album; reportedly finished in just three weeks and entitled Horehound, the album is due out in June.
Ahead of the release, actually beginning tomorrow, The Dead Weather will digitally release the album’s first single, “Hang You From The Heavens”, along with a cover Gary Numan’s “Are Friends Electric?” on iTunes. Of course, if you’re like 99.9% of the population out there, and can’t wait until 12:01 a.m., the band is currently streaming both selections on its official website.
Hat tip to Sam for the heads up…
