That unsigned Norwegian band that played South by Southwest’s Guitar Hero showcase last week apparently made such an impression that in just five days, it has changed its name to Metallica, signed a record contract, and announced dates for a North American fall tour.
Ok, so that may not entirely be accurate, but there is no denying the fact that Metallica rocked SXSW last week, or has just revealed plans to return to the U.S. later this year. That’s right, as the band explained in a recent posting on its website:
European Summer Vacation, part 2,347 will end on August 2, so that can only mean one thing … more dates in the U.S. and Canada! We just rocked Austin at SXSW and are super psyched that we’ll be back in North America visiting our friends in the Fall as the World Magnetic Tour keeps rolling on. We had an amazing time on the last run in ’08 and early ’09 and we are so ready to do it again!

The latest North American leg will kick off on September 14th in Nashville, Tennsesse and currently runs to mid-December. But given the fact that “early ’09” is included above, one would have to think still more dates are coming. Tickets for the below dates will go on sale beginning April 4th.
