So maybe it’s not as big as some of the other possible reunions out there, but hey, for the sake that the band at hand is actually backing up the talk and playing a show, it’s well worth the excitement. The Pixies are set to return this summer with a headlining appearance at the Isle of Wight Festival, the U.K. festival announced today. It will mark the band’s first performance in over two years and and first in Europe in over four.

This year’s Isle of Wight, scheduled to take place from June 12-14, will also feature Neil Young, The Prodigy, Basement Jaxx, Pendulum, Razorlight, and The Ting Tings. The full lineup is expected to be announced in the coming weeks. The Pixes will serve as the warm-up act for the festival’s closer, Neil Young, on Sunday. Per promoter John Giddings (via Reuters):

“Having the Pixies complementing Neil Young feels just right…People didn’t believe me when I told them. They thought it was too good to be true”

The news comes just months after frontman Frank Black told NME that he would be unopposed to reuniting the band for a new studio album.

No word on whether the band will take its reunion back to the U.S., though I’m sure I’m not the only one imagining the Pixies taking the stage at Grant Park come early August.
