For all those who doubted that Jimmy Fallon would not be able to fill Conan O’Brien’s shoes whatsoever…well, you’re dead wrong. For the Brooklyn native, SNL alum and current Late Night prince, Fallon has certainly shed his “first week blues” and established his own spin on the typical late night talk show. Last night, along with his excellent house band, Philadelphia’s The Roots, the skittish host invited up to the stage none other than Roosevelt, Long Island rap legends Public Enemy, who were the night’s musical guest. With an incredible and amped up version of the group’s anthemic “Bring The Noise”, Public Enemy put on one helluva performance last night.
While Fallon has now entered into his third week of hosting Late Night, Public Enemy’s performance by far cemented the comedian’s new position. Everything clicked. Chuck D ran the show, Flavor Flav never sounded better (hey, it was his fiftieth birthday!), and it was great to see Professor Griff on board. Words do not describe these guys, and why should they? Just watch for yourself.
Keep it up, Jimmy!
