The first thing that comes to mind upon viewing the video for “Zero”, the first single off Yeah Yeah Yeahs‘ upcoming album, It’s Blitz!: Since when did Alanis Morissette join the band?
After all, in the video, frontlady Karen O. explores city life in the same nonchalant manner as Morrison did back in “Thank You”, you know, walking around with not a care in the world. Then again, there is the non-nudity thing – it’s not like Karen could pull it off anyway, her hair is much too short, plus Alanis didn’t have a synthesizer and the furious guitar rifts of Nick Zinner providing musical accompaniment. Nor did she do any car jumping. You know, the more I think about it, this comparison makes no sense whatsoever. Oh well, at least I got your attention.
