It’s been an incredible 20-plus year musical roller coaster for the Princeton, New Jersey jam rockers Blues Traveler. This summer, we’ll see another feather etched into the band’s musical caps. The blues-jam quintet, famous for its infectious hit singles “Run Around” and “But Anyway”, will partake on a summer tour to promote its most recent album, 2008’s North Hollywood Shootout.
Regarding the album, guitarist Chan Kinchla spoke about its translation to the stage (Per Live Daily):
“When we play live, we get a lot of these great grooves and things going when we do jams in the songs and in-between songs–happy accidents and stuff like that. We felt like that hasn’t really been represented on record, so we decided to spend a lot of time just doing free-form jamming and finding parts we liked and using them to build songs around.”
If that’s the case, then there’s no reason not to go see them. The tour will kick off Saturday, May 2nd, in Tulsa, Okla. The band will continue to jam out until Saturday, August 22nd, in Columbus, Indianapolis. Summer is right around the corner, so arm those coolers with some tasty brews and take in all the harmonica wailing of John Popper with delight and glee. This summer will rock, and Blues Traveler show no signs of slowing down.
