It’s been hyped for two weeks now, and they’ve teased us with 90-sec clips, but finally Green Day has unveiled its new single, “Know Your Enemy.” With ’60s throwback guitars, a rhythm that screams of Pete Townshend’s work, and some pace drumming by Tré Cool, this new single takes a bite out of your head and then some. It’s a quick and easy fix, albeit somewhat redundant (“Do you know your enemy?”, etc.), but it’s catchy as hell and with any first single, it’s likely to churn the already spinning buzz. If anything, it’ll make you move a hell of a lot more than its recently leaked titular track.

The spotlight is shining on the California trio this week, as they continue to surprise fans with exclusive secret shows (that sport jaw dropping set lists), and boatloads of material (lyrics anyone?) to pore over until the May 15th release of their eighth studio effort, 21st Century Breakdown. Stay tuned for the accompanying video, which makes its debut later this afternoon, and for those looking to download the single, it’s currently available on iTunes.

Can we start begging for tour dates yet? Yes, yes, yes.
