Dance pop group, and malapropian named-band Hot Chip is apparently ready to set its sites on a new untitled LP for release sometime in 2010. In a recent interview with BBC 6 Music announcing the plans, synth player Joe Goddard Expect hinted at a release featuring more docile tracks, shying away from dance beats in favor of a more softer sound. “We’re kind of stepping things down a bit because we want to make this next album quite simple, gentle, focused; just 10 or 11 tracks of really excellent pop songs that hopefully will become timeless classics,” says Joe Goddard. “They’ll be club tunes but not the really banging ones. Making songs like that always gives you the scope to do a really banging remix, which we’ll probably try and do as well.”
Of course, if this release does come to fruition, it will follow Hot Chip’s most well received album to date, last year’s Made in the Dark, and will likely also feature a new drummer as well, as the band noted in an interview with NME.com last year.
