What’s one to do after having Gold and Platinum statuses in more than six different countries? Record a cover of The Talking Heads of course! Oh, and throw in a brand new studio album for good measures!
Hot on the heels of the release of Covered, A Revolution in Sound, where the Utah outfit contributed a cover of The Talking Heads’ “Burning Down the House”, The Used will soon unveil a bit more Artwork, this in the form of its fourth full-length endeavor. Produced by Matt Squire and slated for release in June, the followup to 2007’s Lies for the Liars, is said to reflect of the band’s most “messiest” and “noisiest” work to date, a characteristic that looks to have drummer Dan Whitesides quite proud. Per The Orion:
In a market dominated by over-produced, polished-into-meaninglessness records, “Artwork” will be a departure.
Whitesides describes the album as one that can be listened to over and over. Sometimes working on an album can make a person sick of it, he said. But, this one made him an even bigger fan of The Used.
While many specifics are still forthcoming, The Used did recently offer a taste of what is to come when it debuted one of Artwork‘s tracks, “Blood on My Hands”, at South by Southwest.
We also know the proceeding the June release, the band will hit the road for what is currently a two-month North American tour, composed of both stops in indoor intimate venues and festival appearances.
