Did we honestly believe Richard Branson was going to disappoint?
Hot on the heels of news that the U.S. Virgin Mobile Festival will return this year – though where is still TBD, comes a report in today’s Calgary Sun that the same can now be said about Virgin Festival Calgary…
After nearly a year of speculation following last June’s highly successful concerts at Fort Calgary, it can be confirmed that V-Fest officials are in negotiation with Canada Olympic Park for a return engagement sometime in August.
While other local venues are apparently being scouted as well, sources say COP is the most likely site for the two-day, 30-band festival, which drew more than 35,000 fans last year.
No word on the acts being considered for this year’s bill, though the Sun goes on to point to AC/DC, Pearl Jam, Modest Mouse, Beastie Boys, Depeche Mode, Incubus, Katy Perry, M.I.A. and Jason Mraz as possibilities.
Last year, Virgin Festival made its debut in Calgary with a lineup featuring the likes of Stone Temple Pilots, The Flaming Lips, The Tragically Hip, The New Pornographers, and The Fratellis.
As always, more as it develops.
