With Kanye and Mr. Yorke lying fairly low thus far in 2009, it’s provided the opportunity for other artists to become headline whores. Take Aerosmith for example. In just the last couple months, the Boston rockers have discussed their upcoming album, discussed how they were putting said upcoming album on hold, announced a co-headlining tour with ZZ Top without venues, and announced a co-headlining tour with ZZ Top with venues. Today, Aerosmith is again in the headlines, this time because Joe Perry recently sat down with Spinner.com and provided a few hints as to what might fans hear and see on the band’s upcoming dates.
Among them? “We’ve always wanted to do a show where we played an album all the way from beginning to end,” Perry says. “We play a lot of songs, but to hear an album from top to bottom, it’s a lot of fun. We’ll probably try it this time out.” Which album getting the full live treatment is to be determined.
The guitarist also mentioned that a few new tracks from the yet-to-be-titled, currently delayed followup to 2004’s Honkin’ on Bobo may also be performed on tour, including a “classic Aerosmith rock” number called “Big Groove”.
I’m sure we’ll hear more soon, like as soon as the name Aerosmith is no longer present on the CoS’ front page.
