Mark Hoppus may be the jokester behind the band, but if it’s about the current status of Blink-182, we’ll take him seriously. After all, he’s been waiting for this moment for quite sometime, and considering the hype that’s built up since their Grammy appearance, they only have to open the floodgates. Of course, they have some business to attend to first.

Despite reports that the band’s been in the studio, don’t expect the follow up to 2003’s self-titled release just yet. Hoppus, who’s been busy with everything from producing Motion City Soundtrack’s next record to updating Blink’s twitter about his recent velcro-shoelaces purchase, told Billboard that the band’s priorities have changed…just a tad.

“We started writing a few months ago and got well into the writing process, but now we’ve kind of put the recording of the next album on hold and are doing rehearsals for the upcoming tour,” Hoppus told Billboard.com. “We’re still booking the Blink tour for this summer, so we’ll see how that all ends up working out.”

It’s not much, but at least the tour is still set to go. Although given that it’s already May, we’ve yet to see any real rumors surface, and pretty much every interesting act in their genre has its own plans by now, let’s hope this ship isn’t sinking already. Oh, and what the hell was up with that green screen nonsense, anyhow?
