Sled Island isn’t the only music festival making noise today. Lets round up all the important info in todays edition of CoS Festivals in Brief:
Summer Camp Music Festival:
With the festivities for this year’s Summer Camp Music Festival set to kick off in three weeks, organizers have put the finishing touches on the ’09 bill with one last round of lineup additions – Great American Taxi, The Brew, The Heavy Pets, Morglbl, The Hue, Seeker, and Scotty Don’t are now set to descend on Chillicothe, Illinois between May 22nd and 24th – and details relating to the late night action, which includes everything from late night sets to free campfire jams. Pitchfork Music Festival:
Another Friday, another round of lineup additions for the fourth annual Pitchfork Music Festival. Frightened Rabbit, Beirut, DOOM, Lindstrøm, Ponytail, and The Mae Shi are among the latest names now set to join the previously announced likes of The Flaming Lips, Built to Spill, and Black Lips from July 17-19 in downtown Chicago. XX Merge:
One week later, Merge Records will look to celebrate its 20th anniversary with a five day musical extravaganza better known as XX Merge. We say extravaganza because based on the latest rounds of additions, there’s really no other way to describe it. The Magnetic Fields, She & Him, Radar Bros., Portastatic, Lou Barlow, and Lambchop highlight the latest round of additions currently set to join the previously announced Conor Oberst & the Mystic Valley Band, Destroyer, Polvo, Pipe, and Spoon. Who would have thought Carrboro, North Carolina would be a hotbed for music action come late July?
ATP New York:
Indie kids, rejoice! ATP New York is back with more names for its 2009 bill, and unsurprisingly, they’re unbelievably stellar. Bordoms playing BOREDRUM (with nine drummers), No Age playing Hüsker Dü (with special guest – Bob Mould, anyone?), Iron & Wine, Deerhoof (with Martha Colburn), Caribou doing something called Caribou Vibration Ensemble, Deerhunter, Boss Hog, Bridezilla, and Stardeath and White Dwarfs make up the latest round of additions. And finally…
It looks as if you can add two more festivals this year’s summer calender. From June 24-26, Lake Tahoe, California will play host to something called the Wanderlust Festival, which will reportedly include Andrew Bird, Michael Franti & Spearhead, and The Honey Brothers, while according to Pollstar, an event that looks to be the much rumored Virgin Festival Montreal will take place during the weekend of June 20th. As always, more as it becomes available…
