Almost 25 years ago, the young boys of Kajagoogoo, armed with nothing but their pretty boy looks, thoroughly teased mullets and cut off tees were the apple of every teenage girl’s eye. Led by frontman Christopher Hamill (otherwise known as Limahl) the teenage heartthrobs had a brief, but surprisingly successful career before everyone got fed up with each other and Limahl called it quits in 1983. Without Limahl, the remaining members of Kajagoogoo struggled to carry on, but they never again reached the level of success they once had. Now, after a few attempted reunions Limahl is back and in celebration Kajagoogoo has made plans for a special reunion tour through the UK beginning in September.
In response to the band’s reformation Limahl explained to Telegraph, “It took us 25 years to grow up, basically. But now we’re back together, it’s a relief.” At this time only ten dates have been scheduled, but rumor has it that with the recent return of Limahl, Kajagoogoo will also be “armed with new songs”. Who knows, maybe with a little good fortune these guys will be able to top the success of their infamous single “Too Shy”. Only time will tell.
