Massive Attack preps one hell of a massive attack

Massive Attack, the acclaimed English trip hop outfit, will be doing its very best to, well, live up to its name in the months ahead. According to Billbaord.com, the band will release its long-rumored, yet-to-be-titled fifth LP this summer, and will support it with a world tour consisting of over 150 dates. Told you, Massive Attack is planning a massive attack.

Speaking with Billboard, vocalist and musician Robert “3D” Del Naja confirmed the band will release the followup to 2003’s100th Window in October through Virgin/EMI, an album whih will feature several songs previously debuted live, such as “Red Light” and “All I Want”. Blur/Gorillaz genius Damon Albarn, Guy Garvey of Elbow and Stephanie Dosen are expected to provide guest work.

The supporting world tour will kick off two weeks prior to the album’s release in September – “So there will be a two-week discrepancy where we’ll politely request the audience’s attention while they hear some new songs that have been re-mastered,” Del Naja notes. Currently, some 40 European dates are confirmed for 2009, with the band planning to take off time for the holiday season before embarking on Asian and American legs in 2010.
