Frank Black is one busy man this summer…

Here’s a trivia question for you: What musician is spending the summer reuniting one of the most iconic bands of the last two decades, debuting a new band with his wife, and touring solo? Why it’s Charles Michael Kittridge Thompson IV, aka Frank Black, aka Black Francis, aka the dude from the Pixies who has so many names I have no fucking idea what to call him, but for the sake of this piece, we’ll go with Frank Black.

In addition to performing a few reunion shows with the Pixies, the first of which occurred last weekend, and releasing that uber expensive box set, the 44-year-old will be using the coming months to concentrate on two other projects: He’ll both be touring solo as Black Francis and with wife Violet Clark as part of the recently formed Grand Duchy. These particular two treks will be taking place at the same time, during the month of July and early part of August, with Black basically alternating back and forth.
