Well, it’s time for the weekly news story about a famous musician getting biopic’ed. Hot on the heels of details pertaining to Martin Scorsese’s upcoming Sinatra flick comes word that Orian Williams, who is perhaps best known for his work in the Ian Curtis biopic, Control, and Ryan Jaffe, aka the guy who wrote The Rocker, aka that film that came out last year starring Rainn Wilson and tells the story of a failed drummer who is given a second chance at fame, have been hired to create a new film about… Jeff Buckley.
While the film is still said to be in the early stages of development, according to the Australian Courier Mail (via The Playlist), Finding Neverland producer Michelle Sy is also on board, while Jared Leto, James Franco, Robert Pattinson and James Marsden are among the actors being considered.
Of course, as The Playlist points out, this will mark the third attempt at a Jeff Buckley biopic, so, don’t get your hopes up too much.
Either way, this news is just the latest in what has been a busy month of Buckley related headlines. Last week, the latest Jeff Buckley trbiute album, Grace Around the World, was released via Sonys Legacy Recordings, while details of a new, previously unreleased live album from Buckley’s father, Tim, were also unveiled.
