Obviously, we don’t like to favor any one part of world, but in today, we will. That’s because two of music’s biggest names will basically be taking over a 30 mile stretch of the United States in the coming months. The names? Paul McCartney and Bruce Springsteen. The 30 mile stretch? The New York metropolitan area.
As we mentioned in our analysis as to why the former Beatle may or may not soon be working with Bob Dylan, we pointed out rumors that McCartney will be take to Queens, New York in July to christen the new home of the New York Mets, Citi Field. It turns out that those rumors were accurate, and on July 17th and 18th, the legendary musician will return to the same spot (different building) that he first descended on some 40 years ago…
Tickets for McCartneys two-night stand will be available beginning Monday, June 15 at 10:00 a.m. ET via 507tixx.com and 718-507-TIXX. An additional date is rumored for July 21st.
Two-and-a-half months and a 10-minute drive later, Bruce Springsteen & the legendary E Street Band will perform at another New York/New Jersey area stadium, but unlike McCartney, their task will be to cap things off. Beginning on September 30th, The Boss and Co. will return to Giants Stadium, a venue that has become synonymous for the band as the band has for it – Springsteen holds the record as the number one selling artist at the Meadowlands (which includes Giants Stadium) in New Jersey, having sold out 56 concerts to date with the E Street Band, to perform what will be the stadium’s final concerts.
So far, five dates have been announced, with three already sold-out and the other two, set to take place on October 8th and 9th, going on sale beginning Monday, June 8th via Ticketmaster.com. Three additional dates are still rumored to be coming.
And who said a New York kind-of-life didn’t have its benefits?
