Modest Mouse likes photos… a lot

Remember zines? You know, those little booklets that gathered dust in the back of your favorite indie record shop? No? Well, if you’re a fan of Modest Mouse, you will pretty soon. Come July 4th (how patriotic), the Isaac Brock-led indie group receives its own photozine, which is very quaint, very quirky, and very pretty.

Photographer Pat Graham recently teamed up with RAEN Optics to deliver the series of photozines, which will arrive in volumes and be limited in number, too. Pitchfork Media has the scoop, in addition to some sample photographs, and so far it sounds like a fairly ambitious project.

Each issue is limited to 1200 copies. Graham edited issue #2 along with MM frontman Isaac Brock, and the band members and Graham will often accompany the snapshots with stories about what they’re depicting. Issue 3 will consist entirely of Polaroids, many of them seeing the light of day for the first time.

Considering Graham’s known the band since 1996, one can expect a breadth of history, and given Brock’s trademark insanity, everyone will inarguably enjoy the random macabre on every page. For those interested, place your orders here.

If you haven’t, don’t forget to check out Modest Mouse’s current single, “Satellite Skin”. If that isn’t enough to hold you over until that supposive EP, then hit your local record store this weekend for Vinyl Saturday (June 20th, specifically) to snag that limited edition 7″ of “Autumn Beds” b/w “Whale Song”, the former of which you can stream via Spinner. Or, you can catch ’em at one of the random music festivals they’ll be appearing at this summer.

We vote for Vinyl Saturday (and the stream) — but we’re partial to their studio stuff.
