I’m not sure if it’s possible to equate a band with a month of the year, but if you could Modest Mouse are totally like March, you know, the fierce, Lion-like kind of March which just complete comes in like a fury.
After all, 72 hours ago, while at Bonnaroo, yours truly was talking music with someone (there’s a shock!) and was asked what Modest Mouse were up too these days. I answered something in the way of not much, that they had recently released a single and were maybe gearing up for a new EP, but with Johnny Marr busy with The Cribs, Issac Brock and Co. were probably taking advantage of some much needed time up. Boy, was I wrong.
In just the last 48 hours, Modest Mouse has unveiled another new song, announced details for some sort of photo Zine, and mapped out a fall tour. Talk about making the most of your time!
The tour, which was officially unveiled today (via Pitchfork), is centered around the band’s upcoming festival appearances at Bumbershoot, Outside Lands, and Street Scene. Consequently, the trek is mostly a west coast endeavor made up of dates in California, Washington, and Montana, though Ontario does get some love as well.
Of course, if you aren’t a fan of newness, you could always just relive oldness with this blast from the past…
