These United States plan a summer of Obama inspired music

The coming summer months will be busy ones for music’s favorite quintet (give or take a few) name after the country they call home. On September 1st, These United States will go wild with their third full-length release in 18 months, a 11-track effort entitled Everything Touches Everything. And here’s a shock: the record was inspired by America, or more specifically what happened on January 20th, 2009 when “four million new friends descended on the city of Washington, DC.” You see, as the band explains, “laughter, belief, chaos, history, frigid cold wild mercury winter morning sunshine – it was a good place to be making music,” So good in fact that in what is being described as “42 minutes of folk in the truest sense – a record of the moment, of the cultural and emotional forces that animate everyday existence somewhere down below the headlines.”

Obamamania strikes again!

In support of the release, These United States will hit the road in the days ahead for a North American tour composed mostly of festival appearances. After all, to touch everyone, you have to play in front of a lot of people. And there’s no better place to play in front of a whole lot of people than a music festival…
