It looks like 2009 is a year chock full of permanent spring cleaning and musical innovations. Now that Bobby Brown is officially gone from the picture, Whitney Houston has a lot to look forward to for the next few months. For starters, the former 80’s pop sensation and 90’s darling diva is back…and no not with Kevin Costner. Turns out, she’s working on a brand new untitled album that’s due out on September 1st. This will be Ms. Houston’s first album since 2000’s Just Whitney, so needless to say this will be something to look forward to from the former R&B superstar. According to Billboard:
The wait is over — Whitney Houston is finally making her comeback on Sept. 1 with an as-yet-untitled album on Arista Records. For her return, the label has set up a countdown on the New Jersey-bred artist’s official site, WhitneyHouston.com, which will also preview selected tracks slated to appear on the album in coming weeks.
Assisting the songwriting on this record include Black Eyed Peas frontman Will.i.am, as well as singer/songwriters Sean Garrett and Akon. While it’s doubtful that Ms. Houston and co. will pen the next “My Humps”, this should be a fitting pop album chock full of fun surprises.
