Earlier this week, The Daily Swarm reported on the eerily similar sounds appearing on Adam Freeland‘s “Mancry” and the Black Eyed Peas’ “Party All The Time”. Of course, because Freeland’s song was released prior to that of Black Eyed Peas, the issue of plagiarism came into play, and because “Party All The Time” is part of an album that hit #1 on the Billboard 200, it’s sort of a really big deal.
Today, the Black Eyed Peas responded to the allegations of plagiarism as baseless, noting in an interview with the Times of Malta that “[Freeland]’s had offered them a beat and it was a case of working together.” However, because the Peas were unable to “finalize legalities,” as Will.i.am explains, “clearance was not done and that was what it was about.”
…And that apparently makes it ok. Ah, music.
