Drummers get together to not Drum for a band called Drummer

So back when Black Keys’ shredder Dan Auerbach started talking about that solo album of his, I remember feeling a little bad for drummer Patrick Carney. He wasn’t included on the studio album and wasn’t found in the guy’s touring band. It seemed a bit weird for a member of a duo to “ditch” his other half to make a solo record, which in reality would have more musicians on it than any Keys album ever did.

Now that I know what Carney’s been up to, I don’t feel as bad. He’s been shedding his role as a drummer in a new band full of guys doing the same thing. It’s a drummer supergroup that will go by none other than the name… Drummer. Carney plays bass and four other Ohian drummers do the rest. Teeth of the Hydra’s Jamie Stillman will play guitar, Beaten Awake’s Jon Finley will lend his voice and guitar to the group, and Houseguest/Six Parts Seven’s Stephen Clements will hop on keyboards and sing. One drummer, however, will have to stick to the sticks. Despite the array of talent, Ghostman and Sandman’s Greg Boyd will be the only drummer in Drummer.

The debut record from Drummer will be entitled Feel Good Together, and will be released via Carney’s Audio Eagle label on September 29th.

Here’s the self-title track from said album. It’s pretty good, considering a bunch of drummers put it together (LOL, JK). It’s actually shockingly great. With a very cool groove, some nice licks, smooth vocals, and of course, some drumming, the song is surprisingly good! Check it out below…
