Its been quite some time since weve heard anything new from the east England synth/rock group know as Friendly Fires. They released their debut self-titled full length on XL Recordings during the summer of 2008 and quickly followed it with an extremely limited edition 7 of Jump In The Pool. Since then, aside from a 12 of their disco groove track Skeleton Boy which only contained a couple of remixes by ZIO and Air France, Edward Gibson, Edward Macfarlane, and Jack Savidge have been lying low.
Needless to say, the following news is welcomed with open arms: Not only are the Friendly Fires offering us a new single in Kiss of Life, but the trio brings an official video to the table as well. Fittingly, the tribal influenced dance groove of Kiss of Life syncs with the remote beach side location the band chose for the video.
Just in case a new single and video werent enough, the band has announced plans for another round of Nylon Magazine presented tour dates. If you remember, Friendly Fires hit the road earlier this summer with the likes of Patrick Wolf, Plastiscines, Living Things, and Jaguar Love for the Nylon Summer Music Tour. Well, things went well and Nylon has already confirmed the band inclusion for its winter tour, known appropriately as the Nylon Winter Music Tour. Get these dates, as well as the rest of the Friendly Fires upcoming tour dates, below.
Kiss of Life will be available on the upcoming deluxe edition release of the band’s self-titled debut, which drops digitally on September 1st and hits records shops on September 8th.
