Here’s something awesome: Canadian pianist Gonzales has announced plans to reissue Solo Piano to the United States. This arrives after last years release of Soft Power. He brings back his contemporary piano for another listen, which differs from his recent full band work of the piano backed, eclectic Soft Power, some of which sound almost Bee Gee-esque.
Included in the reissue will be a documentary film entitled From Major To Minor. Featuring special appearances from the Daft Punk robot, Phillipe Katerine, Feist and Teki Latex and memorable moments like the “Berlin Press Conference” and “White Gloves Concert,” the film is the first long-form video to “document the outlandish and eccentric universe of Gonzales.”
Here’s something equally awesome and insane: Gonzales, aka Jason Beck, recently broke a world record for longest solo artist performance, clocking in at 27 hours, three minutes and 44 seconds back on May 16th in Paris. Some of the show is available, for those with an extra day or so on his website. In celebration, the singer/songwriter has announced a few special dates in this continent shown below, including at the inaugural OohLaLA Festival in Los Angeles, California.
Gonzales 2009 Tour Dates:
09/23 – Los Angeles, CA @ OohLaLA Festival
09/25 – New York, NY @ Joes Pub
