Given all the recent musical supergroups to have formed in the recent weeks, it’s might be easy to forget that this is by no means a new trend. On September 15th, Mazzy Star’s Hope Sandoval and My Bloody Valentine’s Colm Ó Cíosóig will attempt to remind of this when the high-profile duo return with a new high-profile album from their high-profile side-project.

Entitled Through The Devil Softly, the 11-track album will mark the second full-length release and first in nearly eight years from Hope Sandoval & The Warm Inventions. On this particular go around, the duo recorded in Northern California and Ireland, and came up with a sound described as “laid-back, slowcore” sound. You can hear an example of this on the album’s first mp3, “Blanchard” , by clicking “play” below (via Stereogum).

Hope and Colm plan to support the album with a yet-to-be-announced North American tour this fall. According to Pitchfork, a new Mazzy Star album could be in the works as well. So, start saving up.
