Sound of Silver just happens to be one of the great albums of the decade, and as such, we clamor for any morsel of news that LCD Soundsystem is working on something new. Relax; be patient, that next studio album is still a ways off. In the meantime, however, we can look forward to some new remixes that will put a new spin on the disco stylings of James Murphy and company.
Using 45:33, the bands attempt at the quintessential mixtape for working out or going on a run that was commissioned by Nike and iTunes will be the one getting the treatment, LCD Soundsystem will be releasing a series of remixes on 12″ vinyl singles. On September 14th, a compilation of all the works will be offered in the form of a full expanded version of the album. The full list of remixers is below.
As for the aforementioned new album, the yet-to-be-titled followup to 2007’s Sound of Silver is currently slated for an early 2010 release. In a recent MySpace blog, James Murphy summed up the work so far saying, I like the record more, but have no idea if that means it’s better or anything. It’s just more fun.
