A word of warning to all musicians: Leonard Cohen does not want you to cover “Hallelujah” right now. At least that’s what the acclaimed singer/songwriter said in a recent interview with The Guardian. “I was reading a review of a movie called Watchmen that uses it, and the reviewer said, Can we please have a moratorium on Hallelujah in movies and television shows? and I kind of feel the same way, Cohen noted. “I think its a good song, but too many people sing it.”
No word on whether this means Cohen himself will take a break from performing his legendary song, but there is one way to find out — he will be touring Europe through late August. All announced dates can be found below.
