We’ve long since come to the conclusion that Canadian stalwart The Tragically Hip‘s name is merely an attempt at subversive Canadian irony. Despite our paranoia regarding our friends to the north, we are happy to announce (with a heads up from LiveDaily) the band’s much-awaited North American fall tour.
Touring in support of the April release of We Are the Same, The Tragically Hip will spend August into early October playing out and aboot (take that, Canada) in their home country. Beginning October 15th, the hippest thing from Kingston, Ontario — save for Bryan Adams — will tour from New York down into the Southwest and on to the West Coast before finishing back up with shows in upstate New York in early November. Visit thehip.com for all on sale information.
If new music weren’t enough, the band also released a 45-minute program in collaboration with Canadian late night show The Hour. The piece featured an interview and the band performing songs from the Bob Rock-produced new album and several reworked old favorites. Undoubtedly many of you missed the film’s premier in movie theaters, so here’s one back from just before the release of 2006’s World Container.
