The Orem, Utah quartet known as The Used has wiped the easel clean for its latest studio effort, a 11-track LP titled Artwork. After all, the band parted ways with long time studio producer John Feldman in hopes of bringing something different to its fourth full length studio release. That something different turned out to be famed emo producer Matt Squire. The result, according to guitarist Quinn Allman, is perhaps The Used’s most sincere effort today, which lyrically “completely engulfs you and makes you feel safe but its all about feeling alone and empty and knowing theres always a light. Not quite sure how that is something different than their other releases but the band feels like they found it.
The first single off Artwork, Blood On My Hands, is currently available on iTunes and slated to hit the airwaves on July 14th. The track debuted during their live performances this year at places like SXSW, Bamboozle and Bamboozle Left… meaning, you can get an early taste below before you decide to throw down the cash…
The album itself hit stores on August 31st via Reprise Records. If you like what you hear, head to theused.net on July 21st to get in on the deluxe pre-order package. The band havent outlined what the contents will be, but you can expect something different.
