Winnipeg’s The Weakerthans haven’t made much noise since 2007’s Reunion Tour, but it’s safe to say they’re ready to get back into the swing of things. Back in June, the dudes announced a string of fall tour dates through Canada and the US, and have since updated those dates and announced some rather stellar openers. A few remaining summer dates will see Broken Social Scene’s Jason Collette do the honors, before one of our favorites, Rock Plaza Central, who released a rather extraordinary album earlier this summer, open up the second half of the tour (check out our in depth interview with RPC’s Chris Eaton). A handful of those shows will also be with a German group called Tomte. That right there is just a packed house of solid rock music. Get ready for poetic lyric overload.
But back on The Weakerthans’ camp, the band just released an iTunes recording session (back on June 30th, actually), which was recorded on their Rolling Tundra Revue Canadian Tour earlier this year at Metal Works in Mississauga, ON. If you’re interested to hear what went down there, Brooklyn Vegan has a pretty in-depth interview and some acoustic sessions up on their site as well.
Many of the tickets are already on sale, so pull out the credit card and get to it.
