Everything you could say about Tiësto has been said before. He records, tours, remixes, produces, and sells like no other. Along the way, he’s been named the Worlds No.1 DJ, worked with Madonna, and even performed live at the Olypmics (during the opening ceremony in Athens, Greece).
Needless to say, anytime the Dutch DJ is in the headlines, it’s a big deal. But when he’s in the headlines for a brand new studio album that will feature Sigur Rós’ Jónsi Birgisson, Bloc Party’s Kele Okereke, Metric’s Emily Haines, Nelly Furtado, Tegan and Sara, and Calvin Harris it becomes almost unfair. After all, how is one supposed to withhold excitement long enough to cover such a story?
Well, I’ll try my best.
On October 20th, Tiësto will offer such an album with the release of his fourth full-length, Kaleidoscopes. The numerous collaborations are said to have a heavy influence on the 17-track effort, resulting in what is being billed as the DJ’s most innovative work to date.
It is completely different to what I did before, explained Tiësto in an issued press release. “Im introducing more and more flavors of what people know as Tiësto. This is a record you can enjoy at home, not just on the dancefloor. But what is very important to me, is that every single track on the album will work when I play out too.
Kaleidoscopes is headed by its first single, the Sneaky Sound System-aided “I Will Be Here”, which you can check out below. It will also be supported by a massive world tour, which spans over 175 dates across five continents. So far, dates in Europe, North America, and Australia have been announced (see below).
