Watch: Coldplay “Fight For Your Right (To Party)” at All Points West

When Adam “MCA” Yauch of the Beastie Boys announced he had cancer, and subsequently withdrew from All Points West, not only were the fans startled and upset, but so were the artists. While fans champion on and rally their support, it’s the performers who get creative, and this past weekend, the only appropriate reaction was to pay tribute to the boys from Brooklyn.

Following in the steps of fellow friend Jay-Z, Coldplay took its shot, as well. And while Jigga pretty much owned the Jersey shores on Friday, the English quartet put together something even more wonderful. Trying his hand at “(You Gotta) Fight For Your Right (To Party)”, singer Chris Martin added a lonely piano line and a set of Brian Eno-endorsed vocals to the campy ’80s classic. Things simmered down when the band then jumped straight into “Viva La Vida”.

The Beasties weren’t the only ones getting love. The band also played an acoustic version of “Billie Jean”, but we thought you could only handle so much in one post. Nevertheless, here’s the video anyway, but don’t say we didn’t warn you.
