We already know how Jay Reatard feels about the youth. But what about his musical muse? Or what in his childhood may have guided him into becoming the boiling hodgepodge of attitude that he is? And just what does he love on his apple pie? Well, thankfully, these questions and more are answered in a lightning fast new documentary about the new king of Memphis.

Alex Hammond and Ian Markiewicz’s documentary Waiting For Something gives Reatard fans everything they could possibly need, from awesome live performances and insightful interviews to a night out with the rebellious one. The documentary also features Reatard’s combats with the dastardly French, interviews with those who nurtured the punk from his early, pickle jar-banging records, and a tour of the neighborhood he grew up in. Not bad for 20 minutes.

Peep the piece in its entirety below. Those looking for more can stream previews of Reatard’s August 18th Matador release Watch Me Fall via NME. Or, download “It Ain’t Gonna Save Me” from one of our recent Friday Mixtapes. Either way, this fall should be quite Reatard-ed.

By the way, Reatard likes melted cheese on his apple pie.
