If you were into the soft pop of the late nineties onward, two names that made regular appearances were Dido and Jewel. While the former has been relatively silent in recent years (once the “Stan” wave tapered off), the latter has tried on pop, country, poetry and most recently a few children’s favorties on Lullaby. Considering we are left between Jessica Simpson’s country attempt and Jewel’s, we choose Jewel and now she is hitting the road come fall 2009 for an acoustic tour supporting Lullaby, this tour run being the followup to a two week summer stint prior this year.
Piling on the sweet and innocent intimate goodness, Jewel is offering fans chances at VIP meet-and-greet packages and an opportunity for one participant per venue to interview the singer one-on-one. Whether you are into Jewel or not, you have to admire her vigilant kindness and ever changing style — even if the changes are remarkably subtle. Lullaby is her first independent release, and so it seems appropriate to market it with intimate acoustic performances (or as intimate as larger venues can be) so be sure to check her out when she comes to your town… and bring a date, chicks love this stuff and at least it’s not Sarah McLachlan (yay, puppies).
