With the October 28th release of the upcoming Michael Jackson feature film, This Is It, quickly approaching, more and more details about the event (and what to expect) are being unveiled.
For one, as Rolling Stone reports, folks in Los Angeles, New York, London, Berlin, Seoul, Moscow, Tokyo, Sydney, Paris, Rio de Janeiro, and several other major cities will be able to get an early taste of the film when Sony, the film’s distributor, brings advanced screenings to over 2,000 screens. What’s more, there will 25 “premieres” across the globe, with 15 happening simultaneously on October 27th.
Michael Jackson has an army of fans everywhere around the world. By rolling out this film with simultaneous premieres and special advance screenings on October 27, we are giving the audiences an incredible opportunity to join together in celebration of Michael Jacksons incredible career, said Sony Pictures chairman of worldwide marketing and distribution Jeff Blake.
We also know (via MTV) that the film will indeed be accompanied by a soundtrack. Last week, a Los Angeles Superior Court judge has approved a deal that gives Jackson’s longtime label home, Sony Music Entertainment, permission to release a CD to accompany the film. However, we do not yet know what will be included.
Finally, two rather extensive previews for the film have been offer over the last week, one in the form of the “official trailer” and the other a brief clip of Michael Jackson rehearsing Thrillers Human Nature during rehearsals for his run of 50 concerts in London that posted on YouTube. Check out both below.
Tickets for This Is It will go on sale beginning this Sunday, September 27th at the ThisIsIt-Movie.com site.
