As we told you earlier this year, Ok Go has been hard at work with producer Dave Fridmann (Flaming Lips, MGMT) on the followup to 2005’s Oh No. As Rolling Stone reports, the foursome will unveil the finished product come January 12, 2010 (the same day as Vampire Weekend OMFG!) when they offer Of the Blue Colour of the Sky.

Speaking of the album, frontman Damian Kulash reaffirmed comments made back in February that the record will hear a few new sounds from the band.

“There’s a lot of Purple Rain on this record — an album I haven’t stopped listening to since I got it when I was 11,” he told Rolling Stone. “It’s not so much that we headed in a new direction “I think we’ve just expended the guitar-rock ideas from our teens and we’re starting to get at more root-level influences.”

Among the tracks included will be “Skyscrapers”, “All Is Lost”, “White Knuckles”, and “Shooting the Moon”, the latter of which you may recognize from yesterday’s New Moon tracklist announcement.
