If one were to put any stock into Monster of Folk‘s performance on The Tonight Show with Conan O’Brien last night, which obviously I’m about to do, one can probably expect to see and hear the following things once the all-star collective of Conor Oberst, Mike Mogis, Jim James, and M. Ward launch their forthcoming North American tour in support of their newly release self-titled debut:
1.Will Johnson (of Centro-matic) will be the drummer for Monsters of Folk (his website now confirms this).
2. These gentlemen recently hit the Men’s Warehouse, though Conor has yet to lose the oversized sunglasses.
3. This will truly be a total team effort… and the Monsters weren’t lying when they said each member, minus Johnson, would be playing every instrument. After all, who else expected Mogis to handle the guitar solo on the band’s television debut?
4. While our review of the actual album is still forthcoming, I think I can safely speak for everyone and say the Monsters of Folk have crafted some pretty captivating music and will be putting on some pretty kick ass performances in the weeks ahead.
But don’t take my word for it. Make your own assumptions below…
